Dakota Odgers
Southern Saskatchewan Territory Manager
at Covers & Co.
Bio: Dakota grew up in various cities across the United States and Canada, but his heart has always belonged to the fifth-generation family farm near Spy Hill, Saskatchewan. The family farm, where Dakota works alongside his father, Jeff, and grandfather, Fred, has shaped Dakota's sense of home. At fifteen, Dakota left to pursue a dream of playing hockey, taking Dakota to places like Yorkton, Swift Current, Vancouver, and Moose Jaw while returning home to work on the family farm each summer. After completing a junior career, Dakota attended Carleton University in Ottawa, graduating in 2021 with an Honours Degree in Environmental Studies. Back on the farm, Dakota is actively involved in integrating cattle with cash crops and innovative practices like irrigation, cover cropping and intercropping. Dakota loves the interaction and conversations he can have with producers, talking about their operations and ways they can bring economic benefits and increased soil health to their operations. Dakota believes plant diversity has many potential benefits to offer producers and potential solutions to current farm challenges, pointing to the flexibility and options a cover crop can offer farms across the prairies. Away from the farm, Dakota currently officiates in leagues such as the WHL, SJHL, and USPORTS. Together with Dakota's fiancée, Sean, they enjoy community activities and family time in Spy Hill and the surrounding area.
